Abstract

He article deals with the procedure and legal regulation of Presidential elections in the CIS countries. In all Commonwealth
countries, the President is elected by universal, equal, direct suffrage by secret ballot. In the republics of the Commonwealth
(Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia), as well as in Kazakhstan, the President
actually stands over the Parliament, exercising, as the head of state, the highest state power and embodying its unity. The author,
having considered the legislation of foreign CIS countries, came to the opinion that candidates for the post of President are subject
to high requirements, but the principle of election of the President in the CIS countries is the same, in all States he is elected by
popular secret ballot. There are no indirect Presidential elections in the CIS countries. The requirements for Presidential candidates
differ, as well as the procedure for conducting election campaigns for the election of heads of state.
