Abstract

The article assesses the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation adopted in 2020. The process of their
adoption, features in comparison with previously adopted amendments, as well as formal and legal shortcomings are
considered. Among the features of the new amendments are their scale, fundamental nature, orientation on the accumulated
constitutional experience in the country in the form of previously proposed draft laws on amendments, Federal legislation,
legal positions of the constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and constitutional practice. The disadvantages of the
amendments include contradictions between the new and current norms of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the
illogic of certain provisions and redundancy of regulation. It is concluded that the 2020 amendments are not a point
correction of the constitutional text, but a revision, an actual reform of the Basic law.
