Authentic feature film as a tool of forming a foreign language communicative competence

Abstract

Modern tendencies in the development of Kazakhstani language education essentially increased the interest to
learning foreign language and forming communicative component. The obligatory constituent of the process of foreign
language teaching is listening comprehension activity and using authentic films as a means of intercultural communication.
The article deals with the use of a foreign language film as a tool of forming students’ communicative competence. The article
demonstrates stage system of working on an authentic feature film in a foreign language. A set of activities has been
developed directed to developing and improving a foreign language communicative competence. We made a conclusion that
under making a definite set of activities and observing sociocultural character of the authentic material a more efficient
formation of students’ communicative competence id possible.
