The place and role of batyrs in the organization of military affairs in the kazakh khanate

Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues of the place and role of Kazakh batyrs in the organization of military affairs in the Kazakh khanate in the XV-XVIII centuries. The author explores the place and role of Kazakh batyrs in the organization of military affairs and the protection of the Kazakh khanate. Military affairs in the Kazakh khanate were given great importance, in which the elements of military democracy were well preserved. In the Kazakh khanate, steps were systematically taken to legally regulate military affairs. The batyrs in the Kazakh khanate represented the professional military class, which took an active part in the protection of the Kazakh statehood, the organization of military affairs, the leadership of military units, the improvement of military strategy and tactics, and the training of defenders of their native land. Consequently, the institution of batyrship was objectively in demand from the very beginning of the formation of the Kazakh statehood. The reforms carried out concerning the political structure of the Kazakh khanate also influenced the role of the batyrs, their participation in the military and political life of the state.
