Media text as а main compound category of media linguistics

Abstract

Article is devoted to a problem of definition of the media text as main category of media linguistics, to the
description of its functions and classification and also its characteristics. In article views of foreign scientists of a problem
definitions of the term "media linguistics" are given.
The media text is considered as the complex phenomenon in indissoluble communication of its verbal and nonverbal
characteristics which holds a specific place in a world information stream. At the same time feature of the media text is that
text activity of media does not assume direct participation of the addressee in communication and therefore his reaction can
only be predicted
