The University’s anniversary is not only a joyful event, but also a time to sum up its activities. Initially, the higher education institution set the goal of training highly qualified specialists who would be competitive at the regional, national and global levels. It is noted that in the modern world, higher education is the most important priority and one of the goals of sustainable development, which is confirmed by UN and UNESCO documents recognizing its critical role in the socio-economic development of all countries of the world.
In this regard, the article analyzes the role of the Alikhan Bokeikhan University in the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, its organizational, educational, and scientific activities.
Considerable attention is paid to improving the quality of education, improving the material and technical base, qualifications of scientific and teaching staff, expanding international cooperation, prospects for the development of the university and the growth of its contribution to the regional economic system.
