THE FORMATION OF SOCIAL SCIENCES IN KAZAKHSTAN IN THE 90S OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY (BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF SEMEY): SOCIO-CULTURAL CONDITIONS, PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

The article examines the problems of the formation of social sciences in the complex and ambiguous socio-cultural conditions of the 90s of the XX century based on the materials of  Semey. The process of changes in the Kazakhstan academic historical science of the period under study is shown: it is demonstrated how the change in the ideological climate in the country was reflected in the process of structural transformations and renaming of departments of socio-political sciences of the city's universities; it is considered how the problems of specialized research in its relevant areas have changed.

            The author attempts to show that the scientific community of historians and social scientists of the 90s of the XX century was an important social group of society that fulfilled its ambitious tasks - to identify Kazakhstan's place in the world historical space; to contribute to the deideologization of society and the formation of a new historical consciousness in independent Kazakhstan.
