Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues of observing the rights of visually impaired convicts serving their sentences in places of detention in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The problems of implementation of legislation aimed at the protection of this vulnerable category, including the lack of adaptive conditions and resources, are considered. The social and psychological consequences of isolation are described, and examples of successful foreign practices are given. The necessity of introduction of modern technologies, training of specialists and strengthening of control over the implementation of legal norms to ensure decent conditions for visually impaired convicts is emphasised.
