Abstract

The article deals with the image of Kunanbay Uskenbayevich in folklore. In the Soviet literature, the
image of "Kunanbay" was considered a negative image, and the conflict between father Kunanbay and son
Abai was considered as a conflict between the new and the old. After gaining independence, the attitude to
literature also changed, and it was time to look beyond the ideology of "someone else", the image of
"contrast with Abai - tyranny." There are a lot of opinions and thoughts on this topic today. However, it is
not an advantage to study a wide-ranging topic in depth. We need to evaluate the independence of our
country as the independence of our culture, literature, history, national beliefs.
