The cultural component of any piece of literary work plays a fundamental role in the translation process, since focusing on cultural specifics makes it possible to better consider changes in the meaning of a text in the case when the original culture is different from the target one. This study is aimed at analyzing the cultural issue of translations of the novel of historical and philosophical genre, which is a representative of national Kazakh literature. In the manuscript the authors examine the indirect translation of the novel Aq Boz Yui by the prominent Kazakh writer S.Yelubay into English, done by a mediating Russian language.
